TIMMINS - If your child was born in 2021, it's time to start thinking about school.
Kindergarten registration is open for the Northeastern Catholic District School Board (NCDSB) throughout February. It's for children born in 2021 who will start school in September 2025.
"Our schools offer a faith-based, family-oriented environment that puts every child at the centre of our work. Most recently, we have made every effort to adopt the recommendations of the Ontario Human Rights Right to Read Inquiry Report and have introduced explicit instruction in reading and writing that emphasizes skills such as phonemic awareness, phonics, and printing.
"We are already seeing incredible progress in learning to read with our students. Come and see how our schools are truly a place where every child belongs," said superintendent of education Daphne Brumwell.
Kindergarten is offered at these NCDSB schools:
- Pope Francis Elementary School in Timmins (Kindergarten to Grade 4 - French immersion and English programs)
- St. Joseph School in South Porcupine (Kindergarten to Grade 6 - English program)
- St. Anne Catholic School in Iroquois Falls (Kindergarten to Grade 8 - French immersion and English program)
- Aileen Wright English Catholic School in Cochrane (Kindergarten to Grade 8 - English program)
- Bishop Belleau School in Moosonee (Kindergarten to Grade 8 - English program)
- English Catholic Central School in New Liskeard (Kindergarten to Grade 8 - English program)
- Holy Family School in Englehart (Kindergarten to Grade 8 - English program)
- St. Jerome School in Kirkland Lake (Kindergarten to Grade 3- French immersion and English programs)
- St. Patrick Catholic School in Cobalt (Kindergarten to Grade 8 - English program)
- St. Patrick School in Kapuskasing (Kindergarten to Grade 8 - French immersion and English program)
