KAPUSKASING - A Kapuskasing hotel has been reopened as a Canadas Best Value Inn, promising to offer guests “comfort and convenience at the best price.”

The 40-room motel, located at 6 Government Rd., was previously the Park Inn Motel before being snapped up by the American-owned Sonesta International Hotels and rebranded in early November.

“Sonesta’s success is illustrated by the continued growth of all brands including Canadas Best Value Inn by Sonesta,” said Keith Pierce, Sonesta’s executive vice-president and president of franchise and development, in a November news release announcing the acquisition.

“Rising demand for economy accommodations in secondary markets positions Canadas Best Value Inn as an attractive franchise opportunity.”

Canada's Best Value Inns are promoted as a bare-bones, value-for-money chain, with rooms at the Kapuskasing property running about $87 to $95 per night’s stay. Rooms come with a complimentary continental breakfast and free Wi-Fi, and pet-friendly rooms are available for a fee.

Located on Highway 11, the motel is near local attractions including the Kapuskasing Airport, Riverside Park, Ron Morel Memorial Museum, Spruce Falls Trail, and more.

In operation since 1937, Sonesta International Hotels is headquartered in Newton, Mass. It’s the eighth largest hotel company in the U.S., with 1,100 properties totalling 100,000 guest rooms across 13 brands in eight countries.
