Kirkland Lake's flags lowered after death of retired employee

'We tender our sincerest condolences to his family and friends,' says mayor

Kirkland Lake is recognizing the death of a retired employee.

The town issues a statement yesterday (March 6) to acknowledge its flags are at half mast to honour John Rozich who died on Feb. 29.

According to the town, Rozich was a former seasonal cemetery labourer who worked for Kirkland Lake from 1995 to 2003.

“The town is deeply saddened to hear of John’s passing. On behalf of the Town of Kirkland Lake council and staff, we tender our sincerest condolences to his family and friends,” said Mayor Stacy Wight.

Rozich was born and raised in Kirkland Lake. He worked at Weston’s Bakery as a production superintendent from 1963 to 1990 when the plant closed.

After a few years off, he found seasonal employment working at the cemetery until he retired in 2003.
