There's a new way to ride the bus and there's a chance to learn all about it this week.

On Aug. 1, Timmins Transit on-demand starts in Porcupine and South Porcupine. Information sessions are being held on Thursday, July 25 at Northern College so people can find out more about how the microtransit pilot project will work.

The sessions are in the Northern College gymnasium from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and 6-8 p.m.

The on-demand service will use shared-ride transportation booked through the Timmins Transit on-demand app, online or by calling Timmins Transit. The shared rides will bring people to a spot to ride the main bus routes. The microtransit service means that the conventional buses to Porcupine and South Porcupine will run every 15 minutes.
