The number of voters casting a ballot at advance polls is up compared to the last Ontario election.
Advance polls were offered for 10 days at three locations across Timmins, with 11.7 per cent of eligible people voting in Timmins. In the 2018 election, when there were five days of advance voting, the turnout was 8.64 per cent.
In Ontario, preliminary numbers show 1,066,545 people voted early, which is 9.92 per cent of eligible voters. That's up from 2018 when there was a 6.8 per cent turnout.
There is still time to vote in-person ahead of election day tomorrow (June 2).
People can vote at the Timmins returning office at 38 Pine St. N. until 6 p.m. on June 1.
On election day, the polls are open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
In Timmins, there are five candidates on the ballot — incumbent NDP Gilles Bisson, New Blue David Farrell, Green Party of Ontario Elizabeth Lockhard, PC George Pirie and Ontario Provincial Confederation of Regions Party Nadia Sadiq.
