The Porcupine Masonic Lodge has donated $20,000 to three Timmins groups.
By attaching the cheques to fishing lines, they recently found a creative and physically-distanced way to make the donations.
The Timmins and District Hospital Foundation received $10,000, and $5,000 each were given to Spruce Hill Lodge and the Golden Manor. The money was raised through Jackpot City Gaming Centre.
"It is part of our group's vision and goal that we give back to community organizations that support other members of our community. Now more than ever, these groups have been through drastic changes, and we are happy to support them," said Masonic member Lester Cudmore in a news release.
The group has been together less than usual because of the pandemic.
"It is great to get out and meet in a very small group to be able to give back to the community still," said member Glen Siem.
