TIMMINS POLICE SERVICE

At 9:38 a.m. on August 5, 2016, Constable Cora-Lee Morin was sworn in before His Worship Theodore Hodgins, Justice of the Peace, at Provincial Court in Timmins.

This ceremony marks the official beginning of her career with the Timmins Police Service. Constable MORIN dutifully completed her Oaths of Office.

J.P. Hodgins, a retired police officer himself, gave sage words of advice to the young officer about the value of continuous learning.

"The demands of policing will change, the law will evolve, and it is up to you to remain current and adapt to the demands of your chosen profession".

These words seemed to sink in with Constable Morin as she thanked His Worship for his advice.

Platoon 4 and her coach officer, Constable Lori Bertrand, welcomes her where she has been warned by Const. Bruce Turner to be wary of the practical jokes that come with the territory of being a rookie officer.

Morin readily admits that policing is still so new to her that she has no particular favorite aspect of the job but, eagerly wants to learn and contribute to the efforts of her platoon and the community safety goals of the Timmins Police Service.

Constable Morin is a 31-year-old woman who was born and raised in Timmins.

She is a Timmins High & Vocational School graduate who successfully pursued a post- secondary diploma in Police Foundations from Cambrian College, graduating in 2005.

Morin comes to the Timmins Police Service with a strong work ethic that she first applied in the local mining sector followed by employment at Northern College (Porcupine Campus) as an administrator in their Training Division.

Morin believes very strongly in the benefits of physical fitness.

She is also a proud member of the Metis community here in Timmins and is an enthusiastic member of Northern College's Pow-Wow Committee.

The Timmins Police Service proudly welcomes its newest member of the policing team.
