KIRKLAND LAKE – The Kirkland Lake Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has been busy during the Festive R.I.D.E. program (Reduce Impaired Drivers Everywhere).
During this time, officers have conducted 34.75 hours of R.I.D.E. events and have charged one driver with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and Driving with More than 80 mgs of Alcohol in 100 ml of blood.
1957 vehicles were checked and 13 road side screening tests were conducted.
The Ontario Provincial Police will continue the R.I.D.E. spot checks through the year in all detachment areas.
All drivers are reminded to drive safe and stay sober.
Staff Sergeant Rick Witty, Kirkland Lake OPP Detachment Commander, states “Impaired driving is the number one criminal cause of death on our roads and our detachment members will be conducting RIDE checks all year long. If you drink, please do not drive any type of motorized vehicle.”
