On Friday, Apr. 7, 2017, Member of Provincial Parliament for Guelph, Liz Sandals, made an announcement on behalf of Eleanor McMahon, minister of Tourism Culture and Sport, that the Board of Directors of the Ontario Trillium Foundation chose NEOnet’s Project Proposal to receive funding in the amount of $254,200.
NEOnet was one of 114 organizations that were chosen to help build stronger communities, to expand and improve on their programs and services.
The project is for Technology Training for Seniors that will improve the digital literacy, educate and empower seniors to connect with family, friends, caregivers, social economic services and help them to be more connected using the Internet and mobile technologies.
The program will consist of delivering information and workshops throughout our catchment which covers from Hearst to Temiskaming Shores, including Cochrane and Iroquois Falls, up to Foleyet and Gogama and the James Bay Coast.
The goal of the project is to teach and assist seniors to leverage the Internet and mobile devices to increase their connections around them. NEOnet’s project will take place over a 24-month period, the plan is to hire new staff and train volunteers to help achieve our goals within this program.
We will be reaching out to new and existing partners, to help us achieve our goals and the goals of individuals we will serve.
