With weather conditions not favourable for fireworks over the Canada Day weekend, organizers hope to launch the show later this week.

According to Timmins Mayor Steve Black, the current plan is to set them off Friday, July 6 at 10 p.m.

Because of the forecast July 1, organizers tried to launch the Canada Day fireworks a day early.

The weather conditions were looking favourable for the show Saturday, however the wind shifted toward the end of the Beach Boys concert on day seven of the Stars and Thunder music festival.

Part of the show was launched, however one firework launched into the Food Basics parking lot, burning a hole in camping chair. The group watching from that location saw the direction of the firework and was able to get out of the way.

While it was originally thought that the fireworks could go off tonight, Black says "there will be no fireworks tonight or prior to Friday."
