KIRKLAND LAKE, ON: Northern College has given a substantial boost to the Kirkland Lake Campus Auditorium Renewal Project by contributing $20,000 to the fundraising campaign that will see the auditorium’s seating renewed.
“Support for the Kirkland Lake Campus Auditorium Renewal Project from the Northern College community has been tremendous,” said Douglas Clark, Manager of the Northern College Foundation. “For the past 40 years, the auditorium has been a key venue for community events in Kirkland Lake. We are very pleased with the donations to date in support of a continued vibrant, attractive community life experience for all working, studying and living in Kirkland Lake. To date, funds for 302 seats have been donated.” The Northern College Kirkland Lake Campus auditorium is an essential resource for the Town of Kirkland Lake. The 500-seat venue hosts a variety of cultural events including concerts and live theatre, and is used during community events like the town’s annual Homecoming and Winter Carnival. “Northern College’s contribution to the Kirkland Lake Campus Auditorium Renewal Project demonstrates our commitment to being a driving positive force in our campus communities,” said Fred Gibbons, President of Northern. “Renewal of the auditorium ensures that our students and members of the community will have access to a variety of top-notch artistic and community events. Cultural and community experiences add value to traditional education and strengthen the connections between students, the community and the college.” The Kirkland Lake Campus Auditorium Renewal Project is led by the Northern College Foundation Committee in conjunction with community partners including the Kirkland Lake Festivals Committee, Kirkland Lake Arts Council, Interlink, the Junior School of the Arts of Northern Ontario, and the Town of Kirkland Lake. The Foundation Committee is seeking support for its ongoing campaign to replace the auditorium seating, with the goal of having renewal complete in time for the 2014 Winter Carnival. For $250.00 per seat, sponsorship will help revitalize the Kirkland Lake Campus auditorium. Sponsors will be acknowledged through prominent donor recognition. Donors will receive a charitable donation tax deduction receipt from the Northern College Foundation. For more information, please visit northernc.on.ca/kirkland-lake-auditorium-project.
