Northern College continues to be the college of choice for a large percentage of international students wanting to study in Canada.
Over the past several years, Northern College has explored new international markets to attract students from around the world, finding significant success in countries like India, Nigeria and China.
Looking ahead to the 2019 fall semester, Northern College will be home to just shy of 3,300 international student across all four of its campuses and partnership institutions. 250 to 300 new intake students are expected for the upcoming fall 2019 semester. The majority of these students are from India, but those numbers do include a smaller contingent from places like China, Ghana, Nepal, Nigeria and Kenya.
“With a large increase of international students attending the College, our institution benefits economically as well as culturally,” stated Edna Xiaojuan Zhang, Northern College's International Operations Manager. “This influx of international students has helped to increase our enrollment, cultural dynamics and on-campus diversity, we continue to work towards improving the experience our international students have while studying with us.”
Northern College is committed to providing excellent post-secondary education to its students, an endeavor that includes creating diverse learning environments that allows students to learn as much from their professors as they can from each other.
“More cultural events will be introduced to faculty, staff and international students, mirroring our current celebrations of Indian and Chinese holidays and culture,” stated Xiaojuan Zhang. “We have plans to increase these kinds of educational cultural showcases to ensure our international students never feel too far from home.”
