NOSM University is again seeking applications from healthcare agencies for its summer studentship program. Businesses and agencies involved in health care can apply for funding to help subsidize the cost of hiring summer students from the medical school.
Applications to NOSM University’s Summer Studentship Program are open Feb. 1–15, according to a NOSM news release.
The program, which is funded by the Ministry of Health, is run by NOSM University to help Northern Ontario healthcare partners recruit various allied health services professionals while providing invaluable, paid workplace experience to interested learners, said the release.
This could include hospitals and clinics that typically offer summer employment in the months of May through to August.
NOSM U said the program is open to a wide variety of learners in regulated health professions which would include :
- Registered Nursing
- Registered Practical Nursing (RPN, PN)
- Medical Radiation
- MD students
- Dietetics
- Physiotherapy
- Midwifery
- Audiology
- Kinesiology
- Speech Language Pathology
- Respiratory Therapy
- Medical Laboratory Technology
- Pharmacy
- Occupational Therapy
Before applying, students must review the program FAQs and meet all eligibility requirements. NOSM University may request additional information from applicants after the application period closes.
Successful student applicants will be matched to health-care agencies. The selection of candidates, job duties, rate of pay, and duration of the employment contract are determined by the employing agency, said the release.
