Ontario Public Health is reporting 1,248 new cases of COVID-19 today as well as 29 deaths, which is the most in a single day in months.
Twenty-nine people have died with the virus since the last provincial report on Saturday, the highest single-day tally since mid-June. That brings the overall death toll in Ontario to 3,361.
Since the pandemic began in March, there have been 94,009 confirmed cases of the virus in Ontario. Of those, 78,303 people have recovered, including 1,062 since yesterday's provincial report.
Due to a technical error, approximately 40 case records from Toronto Public Health were not reported today, resulting in an underestimation of the daily counts for Nov. 14, according to today's daily case summary.
There are 12,345 active cases in the province.
Across the province, Ontario Health Minister Christine Elliott said this morning that most of the new cases today are coming out of Toronto (364), Peel Region (308), and York Region (125).
More than 44,800 tests were completed in the previous 24 hours, but there are still 39,767 cases that remain under investigation.
According to the province, there are 479 people hospitalized with the virus, which is down from 502 on Saturday. There are 118 people in intensive care, an increase of 11 since yesterday, and 67 patients on ventilators, an increase of one.
However, as is often seen on weekends, provincial health officials also point out that a number of hospitals (approximately 40) did not submit data to the daily bed census for Nov. 13, meaning the number of hospitalized patients may increase when bed reporting increases.
