TIMMINS - The weather forecast has cancelled an awareness event tomorrow.

The International Overdose Awareness Day event in Timmins scheduled of Aug. 30 is cancelled. Organizers say it's due to the potential thunderstorm in the weather forecast.

"The decision was difficult to make because of the importance of raising awareness of the toxic drug crisis and to remember those we have lost, and those who continue to die in Ontario every hour due to the crisis," said Jason Sereda, who's with DIY Community Health Timmins and on the IOAD organizing committee.

He said the organizing committee is looking for dates to reschedule portions of the event.
