Party moves indoors for Filipino Fiesta

Wet weather didn't dampen community spirit

A rainy day couldn’t dampen the community spirit generated by the Filipino Fiesta.

A steady downpour forced the Filipino Association in Timmins to move the event inside on Saturday, Aug. 12. Instead of a block party on Balsam Street, the party was moved into the grand ballroom of the Senator Hotel.

Dignitaries such as MP Charlie Angus, MPP George Pirie and Mayor Michelle Boileau were on hand to greet several hundred partygoers.

Those in attendance enjoyed Filipino music, dance and food. In addition, vendors also moved inside for the event.
