Paula Abdul will not be coming to Northern Ontario after all.
The pop superstar — who went on to be one of the original judges on American Idol — says she recently sustained “some injuries” that have forced her to cancel her “Straight Up! To Canada” tour, including the Oct. 16 in Sault Ste. Marie and Oct. 17 in Sudbury.
The show was also set to feature '80s stars Taylor Dayne and Tiffany.
“After multiple consultations with my doctors and exploring all available options, I’ve been advised that one of my injuries requires a minor procedure followed by a 6-8 week recovery time,” Abdul wrote in a Twitter post last night.
The singer says says she has “received targeted injections” that have provided “temporary relief, but the demands of an entire tour is a different story.”
“I want to extend my deepest apologies to all of my amazing fans in Canada and the US, you mean the world to me and this truly breaks my heart," the post continues. "I’ve been looking forward to the energy, love, and connection we always share when we’re together. I promise I’ll be back, stronger and better, dancing my heart out and performing for all of you very soon, to give you the show you deserve.”
Anyone who purchased tickets will receive a refund.
