Police plan to keep an eye on heavy trucks trying to stray from the Connecting Link detour.
Next week, the official Connecting Link detours are expected to be in place. It means that commercial motor vehicles will have to detour around downtown Timmins using Laforest Road, unless they're making a "specific and verifiable delivery".

Timmins Police says it won't tolerate drivers trying to shortcut the official detour route.
"Those operators of commercial motor vehicles found to be in violation of the detours will have their driving comportment addressed my means of strict enforcement of the Highway Traffic Act and any other pertinent statures by Timmins Police officers," said the service in a news release.

"The Timmins Police certainly appreciates the early compliance undertaken by a large number of CMV operators noting that the onus of full compliance will soon rest squarely on the shoulders of each individual commercial vehicle operator."
