Popular music festival returns to Timmins (10 photos)

Arkells headlined the first night of Rock on the River Reconnect

The rain didn't stop people from celebrating the first live music festival in the city in years.

Arkells brought their high-energy show for the first night of Rock on the River Reconnect. July Talk, The Beaches and Timmins' Paul Sebalj also took to the stage.

This year's installment of the popular two-day music festival is being held at Hollinger Park.

Traditionally held in July at Participark, it has been cancelled the last couple of summers due to COVID-19.

Tonight's headliners are The Glorious Sons, who are on at 10 p.m.

The Relic Kings are on stage at 6:10 p.m., followed by JJ Wilde at 7 p.m. and Matt Mays at 8:25 p.m. The gates open at 5 p.m.

While VIP tickets are sold out, general admission tickets are available at the gate while supplies last. Kids 12 and under are $20 each at the door only. They must be accompanied by an adult with a ticket for that day.

If you are heading out to the show, the field is muddy and boots are a good idea.

Proof of vaccination is not required to attend, however, COVID-19 safety measures will be in place. COVID-19 pre-screening is mandatory for all people attending. You can do this via the code on your ticket or the QR code at the venue. Masks also must be worn at all times when not eating or drinking.
