Iroquois Falls Fire Department was on the scene of possible explosives at the request of the OPP.

An explosive incident closed down streets in downtown Iroquois Falls Thursday evening.

Iroquois Falls Fire Chief Dan Boucher said his team was called in by the Ontario Provincial Police, and the area of Diberville Avenue from Teefy Street to Ambridge Drive was cordoned off during the investigation.

"We were called by the OPP for possible explosives in the building," he said.

The fire department was released from the scene about an hour after the original call.

There is no ongoing threat to the public.
