TIMMINS - It will be at least another month before swimmers can dive into the city-owned pool.

At Tuesday's (Sept. 17) Timmins council meeting, a bylaw was approved to give a $316,496 contract to N. Lacroix Plumbing and Heating to supply and install a boiler system and water heating coil at the Archie Dillon Sportsplex pool.

There was no report on the agenda about the situation. However, clerk Steph Palmateer told council the contractor said it will take four to six weeks to install.

The pool has been closed since Sept. 9 because of mechanical issues.

The fall swimming lesson registration slated for Sept. 24 is postponed, the facility announced on Facebook yesterday. A new date hasn't been announced.
