Iroquois Falls is hoping that a new project will spur economic development in the community.

Today, a ribbon-cutting ceremony was held for Validus Power Corp's Iroquois Falls Power Plant Site, which is one of many power-to-data sites the company is developing in the next two years.

It's expected that Validus' acquisition of the site will mean over 50 new jobs ranging from facility operators, powerplant technicians and data centre technicians.

"Validus Power Corp not only will bring new employment opportunities to our town, but they are also extremely community focused with a specific passion for community development. Discussions around community development opportunities with Validus are ongoing and we couldn't be more excited to share future opportunities for our town in the future," said Mayor Tory Delaurier in a news release.
