Registration is open for the 29th Annual Welcome to Timmins Night.
It's being held Aug. 17 on Third Avenue downtown Timmins. The free event showcases community groups and information, including municipal services, social clubs, health, academic, sports, recreation, culture and volunteer organizations.
“We’re having it outdoors again this year, which is a great thing for all of us. It was a success last year and we just want to build on that success,” said Ifeoma Kasimanwuna, Timmins Local Immigration Partnership co-ordinator.
With COVID-19 restrictions lifted, she said there is no cap on the number of groups that can participate.
"We’re just inviting as many as can come. Last year we had way over 50 so we’re looking to have more to expand this year’s event,” she said.
Agnico Eagle Mines is back on board with this year's event, with the company donating $2,500 for prizes.
Exhibitors can register by emailing [email protected] by Aug. 5. Tents are available on a first-come, first-served basis. If it's raining Aug. 17, the alternate date is Aug. 18.
The organizing committee for the event includes the Timmins Immigration Partnership, the Timmins and District Multicultural Centre, Timmins Economic Development Corporation, Downtown Timmins BIA, The Venture Centre, the Cochrane District Social Planning Council and the Timmins Chamber of Commerce.
