NORTH BAY — The man known for making an impenetrable suit called the Ursus Mark VI that allowed him to feel safe around bears and be run over by vehicles as depicted in a 1996 documentary, is trying to raise money to build another bear suit.
North Bay Conservationist and inventor Troy Hurtubise has created a GoFundme page in hopes of raising $700,000 to build a new suit which called the Ursus Mark VIII.
“The money is being raised to finance Troy's second expedition to the Rocky Mountains with the original film crew and the construction of the Ursus Mark VIII. Anyone who donates $1000 or more will receive a ticket for a draw to win the suit,” Hurtubise stated on the GoFundme.com page.
“For every $100 dollars after the $1000 donation, an additional ticket will be entered into the draw. Any donations surpassing $50, 000 or more will guarantee the individual a spot on the expedition with Troy and a cameo in the film. Filming for the expedition will begin in July of 2016.”
Hurtubise has been renowned for his unique inventions including the Angel Light, which he claimed could see through walls, along with building bullet proof padding which could be magnetically attached to the sides of military vehicles.
