THUNDER BAY - A retired teacher was left speechless when she received a life-changing call.
Lucie Clifford of Timmins won over $1.8 million in the January draw of the Thunder Bay 50/50.
“Oh my gosh, I don’t even know what to say. I’m speechless, and that doesn’t happen very often!” she said the Thunder Bay Hospital Foundation news release.
Clifford retired from teaching eight years ago but is still supply teaching. She had just finished teaching for the day and was going to pick up her grandson when she got the call.
“I’ve been buying tickets since the very beginning to help out in any way I can,” she said.
“Now, this is really helping me out."
