SUDBURY — An actor was injured last week during a shoot in Sudbury.

According to the Vancouver Province newspaper, Vancouver-based actor Brendan Fletcher was taken to hospital after he was injured March 23 during filming of a new CTV series called Cardinal.

Fletcher, featured in the ensemble cast of the new crime drama, is expected to recover after an on-set injury involving a gun. The 34-year-old actor was most recently seen alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in the Oscar-winning feature The Revenant.

Cardinal is a six-part, one-hour drama series under production in Sudbury from Toronto-based Sienna Films and Entertainment One

The cinematic murder mystery is based on the John Cardinal Mysteries, a series of six bestselling crime novels written by North Bay-native and award-winning author Giles Blunt. It's CTV’s first-ever series adaptation from a novel and is expected to debut in the 2016-2017 TV season.
