A review of the current location of the city's emergency shelter is moving ahead.
At its meeting tonight (July 11) Timmins council approved a motion to review the current location of Living Space on Spruce Street South. It does not mean that the facility will move.
The item brought forward by Coun. Steve Black acknowledges the feedback people have been providing on the current location of the emergency shelter. It calls for all organizations and boards involved with Living Space to consider options to relocate the facility outside of residential and commercial zones, and to have the initial review completed within three months.
For the second-straight meeting, council chambers was filled with people who support the item. Protestors were also outside of city hall throughout the meeting, with vehicles driving by often honking horns in support of the action.
More to come on the story.
