With a first-place finish at the central division qualifiers, Roland Michener’s junior girls’ volleyball team is heading to NEOAA.
The squad earned the berth to the regional competition Thursday in Iroquois Falls in a 25-23 win against Renaissance.
“We needed this win to advance to NEOAA, otherwise the championship would have been given to Renaissance,” said head coach Amy Rochon.
“Renaissance and RMSS were well matched with skill and ability. There was no room for error in this set and both teams had accurate serves, a strong defence and great hustle. However, the final hits and perseverance gave the Rebels the edge they needed to win.”
The NEOAA finals are being played at Jeunesse Nord in Cochrane next week.
“I am so proud of this dedicated, talented and hardworking team. This is a great celebration for the Rebels community! Congratulations and good luck at NEOAA,” said Rochon.
