Roland Michener’s junior girls volleyball team is the best in the region for the second consecutive year.

The team won the NEOAA title on their home court.

There were four teams at the NEOAA championships: Cite de Jeunes from Kapuskasing, Timiskaming District Secondary School from New Liskeard, and Timmins schools Renaissance and RM.

At the central region qualifiers, RM coach Amy Rochon said RM and Renaissance had tied for the number of sets won.

At NEOAA, the two local schools met up in the championship game.

“It was a hard fought battle between both teams in the finals with very little errors. Each point was earned with a successful rally of blocks, bumps, sets and hits. There were no holes to be found on either team,” said Rochon.

“It was truly a game of last second decisions about where and when to tip or explode into a massive hit, not to mention who could handle the immense pressure of a long day. Ultimately, the Roland Michener Rebels won the final two sets of the championship with a score of 25-22 and 25-21.”

This is the second-straight NEOAA win for the Rebels junior volleyball team.
