The Schumacher Volunteer Fire Station is continuing to support the local hospital.

According to the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation (TADHF), the station has been a "significant supporter" for more than two decades, and they made a $2,000 donation this week.

In a news release, district chief Mark Delich said the proceeds of Nevada ticket sales have allowed the organization to help many local causes.

"This will be the last donation from those sales as we have decided not to renew our lottery license. We will continue to offer support in other ways going forward," he said.

TADHF manager of donor relations Barb McCormick said the Schumacher station is held in high regard on the foundation's Giving is Receiving Wall in the hospital's promenade.

"We have a name plate honouring this group as a Friend of the foundation for their lifetime giving of over $14,000. These donations allow us to continue ensuring our patients received outstanding medical care in our hospital," she said.
