It's a golden year for Science Timmins.
The organization is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, and to recognize the achievement, the Timmins Chamber of Commerce gifted them a Member Milestone.
In the beginning, board chair Lorraine Cantin said it was a group of science teachers from around the region that organized a science fair that would rotate locations annually. It grew into Science Timmins so that it could include other events, like the Science Olympics.
In November 2015, the Science Village opened at 225 Fifth Ave.and has been operating out of the space at the former St. Mary's Hospital across from the 101 Mall ever since.
