Saying “yes” to Encore paid off for Melvin Alisappi of Moose Factory. He matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in the exact order in the Jan. 21 Lotto 6/49 draw to win $100,000.
He also won $5 on his Lotto 6/49 play bringing his total winnings to $100,005, the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp. said in a news release.
Alisappi, a 58-year-old engineer, said he’s a regular lottery player and his favourite game is Lotto 6/49.
“When I scanned my ticket on the OLG App I thought I won $100 at first, which I was happy with,” he shared while picking up his winnings. “When I realized it was for $100,000, I was in awe and total shock!”
Alisappi said he was thrilled after validating his ticket at the store.
“The lottery terminal froze and said Big Winner. It’s a hard feeling to put into words – it was just another day, but a great day for sure!” he said.
He plans to save his win for the future, pay some bills and complete some home renovations to prepare for his retirement.
The winning ticket was purchased at Moosonee’s Necessities on Ferguson Road in Moosonee.
