Environment Canada has issued a snowfall and a flash freeze warning for Timmins - Cochrane - Iroquois Falls, Gogama - Foleyet and Kirkland Lake - Temiskaming Shores - Temagami for Sunday.

Heavy snow is forecast from Sunday morning into the evening.

Local snowfall amounts of 15 cm are expected, though higher snowfall amounts are possible. There is also a risk of freezing rain.

A Texas Low will track across the area and a narrow area of significant snow is expected, with a sharp difference in snowfall amounts west to east.

For areas that exhibit rain, freezing rain, or ice pellets mixing in, snowfall amounts will be reduced.

Temperatures are forecast to fall rapidly in the evening. Ponding water, slush, and any falling precipitation will freeze as the temperature drops.

As the cold front moves through the area, rain is forecast to change to snow. Snow cover will make icy surfaces difficult to detect.

Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become icy and slippery. Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather.
