MOONBEAM - A snowmobiler who received life-altering injuries in a crash has been charged with impaired driving.
Around 1 a.m. today (Jan. 23), James Bay OPP and Cochrane District Paramedics responded to a serious single-vehicle crash on the OFSC 'A' trail in Moonbeam.
The driver, a 46-year-old man from Haley Station, was brought to the hospital and is being treated for life-altering injuries, said police. He was also charged with operation while impaired - alcohol.
There was another snowmobiler at the scene of the crash who police also believe had been drinking.
The 37-year-old Phelpston man wouldn't provide police with a breath sample and has been charged with failure or refusal to comply with a demand.
Both the accused are scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 24 in Kapuskasing.
The police investigation is ongoing.
None of the charges have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
