NEWS RELEASE
ONTARIO POWER GENERATION

TORONTO – Ontario Power Generation (OPG) is advising people to stay clear of hydroelectric dams and generating stations this Easter holiday weekend.
“Many people will be heading outdoors over the holiday weekend to enjoy the arrival of spring, however OPG would like to warn people that ice near a dam or hydroelectric generating station can be thinner than other locations because of the changing water flows beneath it,” says OPG’s Senior Vice-President of Hydro-Thermal Operations Mike Martelli.
“Please keep your family safe by paying attention to the warning signs, fences and booms around all hydroelectric stations.”
The waterways near OPG’s facilities are not safe places for recreation at any time of the year.
