The 2020 Sunshine List is out and has grown in Timmins.
Each year, the province is required to release information on all public sector employees who were paid more than $100,000.
With hundreds of people from the Timmins area on the list, here are some of the top earners in 2020.
At the City of Timmins, which includes salaries for municipal staff, Timmins Police and Timmins Firefighters, 145 people are on the list. That's an increase of 13 from 2019, when 132 people made the list.
In 2018, 124 staff made the cut, whereas in 2017 there were 104 names.
Having made $213,995.30 last year, Police Chief John Gauthier is the highest earner at the city.
Other top earners there include:
- CAO Dave Landers, $211,524.76
- Deputy Chief of Police Henry Dacosta, $183,610.67
- Insp. Richard Blanchette, $181,832.31
- Director of Corporate Services Rock Foy, $178,744.32
- Insp. Darren Dinel $176,040.61
The list of sunshine list employees at Timmins and District Hospital has nearly doubled.
For 2020, there are 158 people making more than $100,000. The year before, there were 84 people on the list. In 2018, 79 staff were included, whereas that number was 61 in 2017.
The top five earners there are:
- President and CEO Blaise McNeil, $339,682.50
- Vice president Clinical/Chief Nursing Officer Joan Ludwig, $222,204.32
- Registered Nurse Lorna Moreau, $202,032.72
- Vice President Stewardship and Accountability Bryan Bennetts, $194,441.63
- Vice President of Human Resources Mike Resetar, $185,662.21
The number of people on the sunshine list at District School Board Ontario North East has also expanded to 346. The year prior, there were 128 on the list.
The top earners are:
- Director of Education Lesleigh Dye, $215,204.64
- Superintendent of Schools Jo-Anne Farmer, $181,555.65
- Superintendent of Human Resources James Rowe, $181,428.56
- Superintendent of Business/Finance and Treasurer, $176,946.94
- Superintendent of Schools Steven Pladzyk, $169,631.04
Nineteen people at the Porcupine Health Unit made the cut.
The top earner there was Medical Officer of Health Lianne Catton, who took home $361,864.03.
The other top-earning health unit staff are:
- Manager of Foundations and Chief Nursing Officer Chantal Riopel, $166,363.17
- Manager of Infectious Diseases and Clinical Services Lynn Leggett, $165,455.95
- Manager of Health and Well-Being Joelle Aubin, $143,724.58
- Manager of Oral Health, Vision and Speech Anna Gauthier, $142,499.96
- Manager of Corporate Services Mary-Lou Pollon, $139,059.41
At Northern College, 71 staff are on the list. That's up from 2019 when 68 people were on the list.
The top earner at the school was president Fred Gibbons, who made $398,959.76 in 2020.
Timmins MPP Gilles Bisson made $137,879.04.
