A swimming advisory has been issued for Gillies Lake.
According to the Porcupine Health Unit, the water may contain high levels of bacteria.
"The water is not recommended for swimming. The latest bacterial tests of the water indicated unacceptable levels of bacteria," reads a health unit bulletin.
During the summer, the water at three Timmins lakes with beaches is tested weekly.
Samples were taken this week on Aug. 11. Gillies Lake is the only area with a do not swim advisory.
Swimming in water that is bacteriological unsafe could cause infections of the ear, eye, nose, throat and skin as well as diarrhea if the water is ingested, according to the health unit's website.
