Alex Szczebonski has added his name to the list of people running for Timmins council.
Szczebonski is a director of the Timmins Taxpayers Association, sits on the Timmins and District Hospital Board, and is involved in other organizations as well. While the Timmins election website isn't showing his name yet, he said he filed his papers for Ward 5 yesterday. Ward 5, which runs from Highway 655 to the Mattagami River, is represented by four councillors.
The nomination period for the municipal election opened May 1 and runs to July 27. Election day is Oct. 22.

• Ward 1 - Rock Whissell, Veronica Farrell
• Ward 4 - John Curley
• English public school board trustee - Bob Brush
• English Catholic school board trustee - Colleen Landers
