The new temporary all-way stop intersection is going in next week.

Public works crews are installing new stop signs on Pine Street North at Sixth Avenue on Wednesday, June 26.

The temporary measure to address Connecting Link detour traffic volumes was approved by Timmins council on Tuesday (June 18).

"This is a temporary installation during connecting link construction. Motorists should prepare to come to a complete stop. The intersection will act as a four-way stop. Advanced notice and flashing lights will also be installed to alert drivers," reads the City of Timmins notice.

It's the second temporary all-way intersection on Sixth Avenue approved by Timmins council in the last month.

At the beginning of June, temporary stop signs were put in on Sixth Avenue at Birch Street North. The rationale for that change was also based on the increased traffic in the area as drivers detour around the massive construction project that's closed Algonquin Boulevard from Balsam to Brunette.
