The city is looking for opinions on how to improve hazardous household waste collection.
Timmins is conducting a survey to determine ways to improve the annual hazardous household waste collection event, improve communication about dangerous waste, and determine when the next event should be held.
The survey aims to decrease the amount of paint, aerosols, single-use batteries, pesticides, and other chemicals that end up in the city dump each year.
“When thrown away with regular trash, the items can release toxic chemicals into the environment, harmful gases that contribute to air pollution, and can cause risk to wildlife,” the city said in a press release.
“It’s important that household hazardous waste is properly disposed of through special collection events or drop-off sites that can safely handle hazardous materials.”
The survey will be available online from March 10 to 21.
