ANTI-HUNGER COALITION TIMMINS

On Oct. 28, 2017, Anti-Hunger Coalition Timmins (ACT) and guest chef Clint Fasciano, will host up to 20 participants in a cooking workshop that doubles as an opportunity to support the local food security work of ACT.

Workshop participants can expect to learn about the fundamentals in Thai and Indian cuisine with the opportunity to sample three Southeast Asian dishes, including Indian vegetable curry, as well as Thai coconut peanut chicken.

“We’ve had a lot of inquiries from past workshop participants for Indian and Thai cuisine so we figured we’d give it a shot!” said Victoria Hall, ACT volunteer. “We’re very fortunate to have Clint leading the workshop, as he is a former chef with a love for Southeast Asian cuisine, and will no doubt teach recipes that participants will want to recreate in their own kitchens over and over again!” said Victoria.

Clint has earned a reputation for being able to turn the most dedicated vegetable haters into appreciative eaters who never thought vegetables could taste so good.

The opportunity to learn from guest chef Clint Fasciano, who is currently a local farmer with 22 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, is one very good reason to run out and grab tickets.

Another great reason to get tickets is that this workshop doubles as a fundraising initiative for ACT, and supports their on-going program costs associated with the Good Food Box, Community Gardens, and Collective Cooking programs.

Jennifer Vachon, Executive Director of ACT, weighed in on the importance of these workshops. “The Inspired Cooking Series is special because it provides an opportunity for community members to support ACT’s skill-building food security programming while at the very same time building on their own cooking skills — all wrapped up in a fun and delectable experience!”

Jennifer Vachon continued on to say, “ACT’s programs provide Timmins residents with choices in the food they have access to by making their dollars stretch farther, growing their own food, and learning new skills – opportunities that provide freedom in accessing healthy and local foods in dignifying ways. These workshops help us to continue that very important work.”

Tickets to the upcoming Inspired Cooking Workshop are available until Friday, Oct. 27 at noon and can be purchased for $75 at Altered Reality (260 Third Ave.) or online.
