Timmins council looking at creating another 4-way stop

There's currently a two-way stop at Ross and Toke

TIMMINS - Creating a four-way stop on Ross Avenue is the focus of an upcoming report.

At the Jan. 28 Timmins council meeting, staff were directed to prepare a traffic study to consider an all-way stop at Toke Street and Ross.

There is currently a two-way stop at the intersection, with the signs being for north-south traffic. Just east of the intersection is a lighted pedestrian crossing.

Coun. Andrew Marks asked for the item to be added to the agenda.

“I’d asked for a four-way stop, but in a quick conversation with our talented staff they said that a proper study would be appropriate to look at all different angles and options,” he said.

Marks wants to know if the recently completed master transportation plan looked at the intersection. He also noted that there are concerns about the slope of the hill on Ross Avenue just west of Toke Street.
