TIMMINS - Warmer weather is on the way, and city crews are getting ready for it.

The City of Timmins sent out a notice today about snow removal and potholes ahead of the expected warm temperatures and rain this week.

While it's still brisk today, by the weekend the temperatures are forecast to be above zero with the chance of rain.

Public works crews are still working to clear snow from roads and are reminding residents that it's illegal to push snow from driveways or residential into the roadway.

"The extra snow slows down snow removal, narrows city streets, and could cause temporary ponding on road surfaces as the snow melts," said the City in a news release.

"The fluctuation between freezing and thawing also wreaks havoc on the roads, causing frost heaving that can damage pavement and create cracks and holes in the road surface. Provincial government standards require the City to fix a pothole within a prescribed period, depending on the size of the pothole and whether it is on a paved or unpaved road."
