Gwen and Dr. David Houston are the winners of the October 50/50 draw for the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation.

TIMMINS - When Dr. David Houston got a call from the hospital foundation the day after a fundraiser, he thought he was being recruited for next year's event.

Instead, the call was to tell the local physician that he'd won $106,282 in the Timmins and District Hospital Foundation's October 50/50 draw.

"Dr. Houston attended our incredible fundraiser, Dancing with the Docs, on the Thursday evening before the draw closed. He thought his colleagues did a fantastic job with their dances. This event helps raise much-needed funds for the hospital to purchase medical equipment," reads the TDH Foundation announcement.

"When he received the call at 11 a.m. on Friday, we tried to pull a quick one over on him and asked him about his night to delay the good news. He later told us that when he called his wife to tell her he had received a call from Jason at the foundation, she thought he was calling to try and recruit him for next year's Dancing with the Docs --- Well D.r Houston, consider this your official invitation!"

Houston and his wife Gwen have a trip planned and some of the windfall will be used for that.

"More importantly he says, they will be looking for ways to help others including our hospital," reads the announcement.

Tickets for the November draw are available online here.
