TIMMINS - Critical infrastructure projects are getting a nearly $4 million boost.

In 2025, the City of Timmins is getting $3.89 million from the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF).

"The $3.8 million funding will be used to maintain and update our roads, bridges, water and waste infrastructure throughout Timmins and ensures that our community continues to be the best place to live, work and raise a family," said Timmins MPP George Pirie in a news release.

The most recent OCIF allocations include $400 million for 423 small, rural and northern communities. The funding can accumulate for up to five years for larger projects.

In Timmins, Mayor Michelle Boileau said the money offsets the cost of rehabilitating and replacing water and wastewater infrastructure.

"The province's investment will allow us to fast-track projects that improve efficiency, distribution and build capacity to support future development," she said in the statement.
