TIMMINS - Many years of work with the golf community will be honoured this spring.

The 2025 inductees to the Golf Ontario Hall of Fame were announced on March 13 and include Timmins’ own Archie Berube in the builder's category.

“Each of our 2025 inductees has made a profound impact on golf in Ontario, and we look forward to celebrating their incredible achievements on May 7,” said Golf Ontario CEO Kyle McFarlane in a news release. “The Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony is always a special occasion — bringing together past and present inductees to honour their legacies and celebrate the great game of golf in our province.”

Berube is being recognized for his volunteerism and his work to revitalize the Northern Golf Association (NGA). Through his leadership, the NGA signed a memorandum of understanding with Golf Ontario and Golf Canada in 2018. He also saw the organization grow from 12 member courses to 33 from 2009 to 2024.

He has also volunteered at Golf Ontario qualifiers and provincial championships and is a member of the northern rating team, which is responsible for rating over 30 northern Ontario golf courses. His contributions to his local club, Hollinger Golf Club, include expanding the club to 18 holes and overseeing the starter/marshall program.

The other inductees are Alena Sharp in the player’s category, Grant Fraser and Charles Blair MacDonald in the builder's category. Doug Ball will receive the Lorne Rubenstein Media Award.

The induction is scheduled for May 7 at Wooden Sticks Golf Course in Uxbridge.
