Timmins hockey fans spreading warmth

Hundreds of donations collected at toque toss

TIMMINS - As winter sets in, hockey fans are spreading warmth around the community.

At the Nov. 24 Timmins Rock game, they teamed up with Q92 and KiSS 99.3 for a toque toss, which had fans throw toques, mitts, scarves and socks on the ice after their first goal.

Fans eager to help out didn't have to wait long. The Rock scored in the first minute of the game and hundreds of items were tossed onto the ice.

The donations were handed out to Ellevive and Timmins and District Victim Services to share with people using their respective services.

Rock members Ryan Boon, Dawson Boily, Alexis Tremblay, Braedyn Cyr helped deliver the goods along with Q92/Kiss 99.3 staff members Dave Novak, Melissa Lacoursiere and Angelo Lia.
