Timmins hospital housekeeping staff the best in Canada

President says patient safety is key to the organization

Timmins and District Hospital has been awarded the Canadian Healthcare Housekeeping Association Award.

TIMMINS - When it comes to cleaning up, staff at the Timmins hospital are the best in the biz. 

Timmins and District Hospital (TDH) has won the Canadian Healthcare Housekeeping Association award. 

“This award reflects the hard work and dedication of our environmental service workers whose commitment to cleanliness and patient safety is key to our mission of providing quality healthcare. We are incredibly proud of their accomplishment and their positive impact on the hospital community," said Kate Fyfe, TDH president and CEO, in a news release. 

The local group were chosen from more than 150 groups across Canada. 

There are 50 people on staff in the department at the hospital. They're responsible for cleaning and sanitizing patient rooms, common areas and operating rooms. 

“Each member of our team plays a crucial role in creating a safe and hygienic pace for everyone who walks through our doors. It is wonderful to see this team of staff recognized on this prestigious platform,” said Ginette Morin, manager of food services and housekeeping.
