A Timmins Indigenous committee is on a quest to showcase the talent of an Indigenous artist in their search for a new logo design.

The Timmins Indigenous Organizations Committee (TIOC) is looking for an Indigenous artist from the Timmins area to create a new logo, with the winner receiving a $500 gift card of their choice.

TIOC’s vision is to increase awareness and respect of the diverse Indigenous cultures within the Timmins community, while its mission to provide opportunities and resources for the community to celebrate and she the diverse Indigenous history of Northern Ontario.

The committee is hoping the new logo design can incorporate both its vision and mission statements. Along with the logo, TIOC is asking artists include a short paragraph explaining how the design captures both statements.

The deadline to apply is Aug. 16. The winner will be announced on Sept. 30, Canada’s National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Submissions can be sent as a picture, JPEG, or PDF to [email protected].
