(South Porcupine, ON) – South Porcupine Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), South Porcupine OPP Crime Unit and Drug Enforcement Unit (DEU) members have charged two males with Drug Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking and Possession of Prohibited Weapons.
As a result of a traffic complaint, the OPP conducted a vehicle stop on Highway 101 East in German Township. Mansour MAHMOUD was identified as the driver and Tarek Issam CHARIFE was a passenger. The investigation revealed that the driver was suspended for driving in the Province of Ontario. Police located an assault rifle, a revolver, and 1 oz. of suspected cocaine with a street value of $2800.00 and $ 9 750.00 in Canadian currency.
The driver, Mansour MAHMOUD has been charged with:
1) Unauthorized possession of a firearm – 91(1) CCC
2) Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon – 91 (2) CCC
3) Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition – 95 (b) CCC
4) Driving while under suspension – 53 HTA
5) Possession of a prohibited weapon - 91 (2) CCC
6) Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 - 354 (1) (a) CCC
Passenger, Tarek Issam CHARIFE has been charged with:
1) Unauthorized possession of a firearm – 91(1) CCC
2) Unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon – 91 (2) CCC
3) Possession of a restricted firearm with ammunition – 95 (b) CCC
4) Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine – 5 (2) CDSA
5) Possession of a firearm contrary to prohibition order – 117.01 (1) CCC
6) Possession of a prohibited device contrary to prohibition order – 117.01 (1) CCC
7) Possession of a restricted firearm contrary to prohibition order – 117.01 (1) CCC
8) Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000 - 354 (1) (a) CCC
MAHMOUD and CHARIFE will both appear on November 6th, 2013 at 09:30 am at the Ontario Provincial Court in the City of Timmins for a Bail Hearing.
